VARNA, Bulgaria (May 25, 2022) – Jeremy Bischoff (Santa Clarita, Calif./Stanford University) and Taylor Burkhart (Morrison, Colorado/Stanford Boy’s Gymnastics) from the Men’s Senior Development Team get a taste of the international spotlight this weekend at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Varna, Bulgaria. The event, which will see participants from 28 countries, marks both athletes’ debuts on the world stage. Burkhart previously took team gold at the 2018 Pan American Junior Championships.
Burkhart plans to compete on all six apparatus, while Bischoff will do all except vault. The floor exercise, pommel horse and nursing rings qualifiers begin Thursday at 7:00 am ET at the Palace of Culture and Sports – Varna, with vault, parallel bars and high bar qualifiers following on Friday at 7:00 am ET.
The top eight gymnasts on each apparatus advance to the finals this weekend. The floor finals are scheduled for Saturday at 6:30 p.m. ET. The pommel horse finals begin at approximately 8:00 am ET and the rings final concludes the Saturday competition schedule at 9:24 am ET. The Vault Finale begins Day 4 at 6:30am ET. The parallel bars champion will be crowned at 8:00 a.m. ET, while the high bar final will conclude the competition at 9:24-10:00 a.m. ET.
