Two Mizzou indoor records broken on day two of the Tyson Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Mizzou Track & Field ended the Tyson Invitational with two broken school records and 23 athletes setting new personal bests.

REMARKABLE SURFACES

Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) won the men’s mile title with a time of 3:58.72, a new Mizzou indoor record. Prodanov also set a new personal best and is only the second person in school history to break 4:00 in the indoor men’s mile.

In the women’s triple jump Arianna Fisher (San Jose, California) broke her previous Mizzou indoor record by 0.07 m. With her jump of 13.59 m (44-7), Fisher set a new personal best and now has the fifth best jump this season in the NCAA .

Claudia Diaz (Merida, Yucatan, Mexico) placed first in the women’s high jump with a score of 1.82 m (5-11½). That jump puts Diaz tied for third all-time in Mizzou’s indoor record book and she is now 13th in the NCAA for the event.

At the conclusion of the Tyson Invitational, the women’s 4 x 400 meter relay Savanna Nevels, Mya Drayton, Kelsey Swissand Rondajai Washington had a time of 3:45.54. It’s the seventh-fastest women’s 4x400m relay in Mizzou indoor history and the sixth top-10 mark at this weekend’s Tyson Invitational.

Mizzou will be taking time off from competition this week and will next compete in the SEC Indoor Championship in College Station, Texas on February 25th.
