The Bulgarian Health Ministry announced on March 1 that it had organized the dispatch of a humanitarian shipment of medicines and medical supplies, for which Ukraine has reported an urgent need.
The request came through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism.
In order to help as soon as possible, the Ministry of Health turned to leading companies – dealers and distributors of medicines in Bulgaria, who agreed to help provide medicines and medical supplies listed by Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health is also working to provide medicines, equipment, bandages and hygiene items urgently requested by the Ukrainian Red Cross.
With the support of the Bulgarian Red Cross, the dispatch of the requested aid will be organized as soon as possible, the ministry said.

Bulgaria‘s broadcasting regulator, the Council for Electronic Media, was scheduled to hold a special session on the afternoon of March 1 to cut Russian channels’ broadcasting in Bulgaria.
Among other things, stations such as RT will be discontinued.
If voted on, the proposal will come into force on March 2 and the Communications Regulation Commission will take care of the technical aspects.
The Plovdiv Municipality announced on March 1, by order of Mayor Zdravko Dimitrov, that a coordination unit has been set up with officials and specialists who will provide assistance to Ukraine who have sought help in the municipality.
The city administration said it can offer accommodation to those in need in a retirement home, a youth center and in the dormitories of two universities in Plovdiv.
The people housed there are provided with hot meals through a social service program.
Pre-hospital care, pregnancy counseling and pediatric care are provided as needed.
Mobile teams from two hospitals will be available to conduct testing for Covid-19.
