Modern family Star Sofia Vergara has committed to portray the infamous Colombian drug lord Griselda Blanco in a limited series of six episodes on Netflix.
Written by Ingrid Escajeda (rich, Justified) and produced by Eric Newman, Doug Miro, Andres Baiz and Carlo Bernard, the creative team behind it Narcos, Griselda tells the true story of Blanco, nicknamed “Black Widow” and “Cocaine Godmother”, a major figure in the cocaine trade from the 1980s until her death in 2012.
“Griselda Blanco was a larger than life character whose ruthless but ingenious tactics allowed her to rule a billion dollar empire years before many of the most notorious male kings we know so much about,” Vergara said. “We are delighted to have found the perfect partners in Eric, Andrés and Netflix who will help us bring this story of a lifetime to the screen.”

In addition to Griselda, Jennifer Lopez has spent several years creating a feature biopic of Blanco entitled The godmotherwho enlisted The story of the maid Director Reed Morano last April. However, the status of this project is currently unknown.
