The authorities of the Republic of Poland, after consultations between the President and the Government, are ready to deploy all of their MIG-29 jets to Rammstein Air Base immediately and free of charge and make them available to the Government of the Republic of Poland, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in the United States Warsaw on March 8 with.
“At the same time, Poland is asking the United States to provide us with used aircraft with the appropriate capabilities,” the Polish Foreign Ministry said.
Poland is ready to immediately set the terms of purchasing the planes, the ministry said called.
The Polish government is also calling on other NATO allies – owners of MIG-29 jets – to act in the same direction, the statement said.
Poland’s announcement comes in the context of Ukraine’s appeal to use warplanes in the war against Ukraine launched by Russia on the orders of Vladimir Putin.
In practice, Ukraine needs fighter jets, for which its Air Force pilots are trained.
Earlier reports suggested that Poland will lend its MiG-29 fighter jets to support Ukraine in exchange for compensation in the form of modern US fighter jets.
