Beijing, June 24th (PTI) China’s military said Thursday that it had used much more ammunition for real-time war game training practice this year than in previous years and also held a “record breaking” mass training event in Tibet.
Since the beginning of this year, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has resolutely implemented President Xi Jinping’s orders, which focused on real-time war games and training, Senior Col. Ren Guoqiang, spokesman for China’s Defense Ministry, told an online press conference.
In addition to the presidency, Xi is also general secretary of the ruling Communist Party and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) – the high command of the Chinese military.
The People’s Liberation Army has had a tremendous surge in training, with an emphasis on laying a foundation for training in real combat and improving its skills, said Sr. Col. Ren.
Compared to the same period in the previous year, the VBA’s ammunition consumption has increased significantly, the proportion of training in difficult subjects has continued to rise and the quality and effectiveness of military training has steadily improved, he said.
A “record breaking” mass training event called “Peak of the Snowy Region 2021” was also held in Tibet, which was attended by over 1,000 training experts and 20 army units, he said.
He did not mention the training area, but it was more than a year ago that the military stalemate between China and India broke out in eastern Ladakh on May 5, 2020, with deaths on both sides for the first time in 45 years. They have made limited progress in liberating the Pangong Lake area.
Both sides are now in talks to extend the release process to the remaining friction points. India is particularly pressing for troops to be withdrawn in Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang.
Col Ren said more than 1,000 training experts from more than 20 units in Tibet competed to extensively test and improve the military capability and quality of the troops in the extremely cold, extremely difficult, extremely dangerous and other complex environment.
The training also focused on activities related to compliance with the requirements of information operations, the use of drones, and the incorporation of the wargame system into the items of competition through real-life case confrontation, he said.
That included staff training with activities focused on building a military training system with altitude capabilities, he said. PTI KJV ZH AKJ ZH ZH
