Mizzou takes third place in the Commodore Classic

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Mizzou Cross Country took third of eleven places for both men and women on Friday morning at the Commodore Classic in Nashville, Tennessee. The men finished with 61 points and the women with 87. Five Tiger women made it into the top 25, along with six men.

Junior Marquette Wilhite (Warrensburg, Mon.) led the Mizzou men’s team in the men’s 8 km race with sixth place overall and a time of 24: 54.5. The goal marked his back-to-back top 10 result in this event. Junior Martin Prodanov (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) made his season debut in Nashville on Friday, adding another Tiger to the top 10. Proadnovs 7thNS Place led the Tigers to third place and marked the beginning of his hopeful junior season.

On the woman’s side, senior Sarah Chapman (Maidenhead, England) made her season debut over 5 km, leading the women’s team with a 7NS End of the burst at 17: 29.5. Second year Isabelle Christiansen (Oswego, Illinois) wasn’t far behind when her 17: 48.0 finish brought her to 15NS And has improved by 11 places since last year’s race in Nashville. She crossed the finish line in 22: 54.5.

Mizzou Hread C.oh Marc Burns … “Our men and women fought hard today. We missed our goal of winning both races a little, but I’m excited to see how they did when they were down. They never gave up and our men almost took the win, even though they were still a long way behind with 800 meters to go. We still have a long way to go, but we are making progress and our training has been excellent! We’ll continue to prepare for the postseason, but our next big stop is in Gans Creek in two weeks. We’ll be ready to fight on our home turf! “

After the Commodore Classic, Mizzou will return to Columbia to host the Goose Creek Classic for the third meeting of the Tigers of the season on Friday October 1st.
