We’ve seen Derek Chisora say and do some pretty weird things leading up to fights and now it seems like Kubrat Pulev is trying to match his energy.
Chisora and Pulev will meet at the O2 Arena on July 9, six years after they first met in 2016 when the Bulgarian won by split decision in 12 rounds.
Chisora and Pulev are both heavyweight veterans
Before the rematch, the pair engaged in a duel hosted by Eddie Hearn, where Chisora came out with an extremely strange analogy, telling Pulev that he had a “hard on” for him.
As if in a bid to outdo each other, DAZN posted footage on its Twitter page showing Pulev calling Chisora on FaceTime.
Pulev starts the call by yelling before Chisora says, “They gave you my phone number for what?”
“I’m in the gym all the time,” Pulev replied. “All the time for you, I’m fit at the gym now. I like seeing you Derek.”
Chisora ended the call by saying, “I’ll see you soon, don’t worry.” He then hung up.
The Bulgarian chose to end the call the way it started by yelling, but what he did next came as a surprise.
Pulev decided to FaceTime Chisora mid-workout
After the call, Pulev tried to eat his phone
And then he pressed the phone like it was Chisora
He continues to put the phone in his mouth and shake it around while grunting like a dog.
As if that wasn’t weird enough, Pulev then starts shouting “DEREK!” on the screen of his phone while repeatedly slapping it.
This all happened before we even got into fight week, so we could be in for some bizarre days over the next seven days.
