The first EU-supplied disinfection robot for Covid-19 was presented on August 3rd in Bulgaria at a ceremony in Plovdiv.
Special guests at this event were the Secretary General of the European Commission in Sofia, Tsvetan Kyulanov, the Deputy Executive Director of the Danish Ambassador, Vasya Ivanova, and the representative of the Ministry of Health, the manufacturer of the robot. This robot is part of the joint command of the EC for 200 specialized disinfection robots to be delivered to hospitals at the forefront of the fight against Covid-19 in all EU member states. The EU budget provides a total of 12 million euros for purchases. Funding is provided through emergency aid.
The disinfection robot is manufactured by the Danish company UVD Robot, which has won an open tender from the European Commission for an emergency supply of disinfection devices.
These robots can disinfect a room with UV light in just 15 minutes. In addition, 18 rooms can be disinfected with a single load. The device is completely autonomous and protects the life and health of hospital staff. In addition to protecting against Covid-19, the robot effectively eliminates many other pathogens and prevents nosocomial infections.
