Director of the Department of Diplomatic and Courier Communications of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lukyanchuk dies

MOSCOW, February 2. /Then24/. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia expressed its condolences in connection with the death on January 28 of the director of the Department of Diplomatic and Courier Communications Sergei Lukyanchuk.

“Sergei Nikolayevich will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him as a kind, sincere person, a highly professional leader and diplomat, who possessed deep wisdom and valuable experience, purposefulness and adherence to principles. The untimely death of Sergey Nikolayevich Lukyanchuk is an irretrievable loss for family, friends and colleagues,” read a statement published on the diplomatic department’s website on Wednesday.

Sergey Lukyanchuk was born on March 11, 1973 in the town of Odintsovo, Moscow Region. In 1999 he graduated from the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia with a degree in International Relations, in 2009 from the Moscow State Academy and Local Government with a degree in State and Local Government.

He started his career in 1993 at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has held various positions both at the headquarters of the Russian diplomatic department and abroad. From 2006 to 2009 he headed the federal state unitary enterprise “GUO of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia”, from 2009 to 2015 he was Deputy Director of Administration (department), from 2015 to 2018 – Consul General of the Russian Federation Russian Federation in Varna in the Republic of Bulgaria. In July 2018 he was appointed Director of the Department of Diplomatic and Courier Communications. He had the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary 1st Class.
