SOFIA (Bulgaria), Aug. 12 (SeeNews) – Bulgaria‘s tourist overnight revenue more than doubled year-on-year in June, reaching 178.75 million levs (US$94 million/€91.4 million), of which 114 .6 million levs from foreign tourists. This was announced by the statistical office on Friday.
The income from overnight stays of domestic tourists amounted to 64.2 million leva in the sixth month of 2022, the National Statistical Institute (NSI) said in a statement.
Total revenue in June compares to 82.5 million leva booked in the same month in 2021, of which 41.6 million leva from international visitors.
At around 2.82 million, the total number of overnight stays spent by tourists in the country in June was 71.5% higher than in the same month of 2021. Of these, 1.7 million overnight stays were spent by foreign tourists.
Four- and five-star accommodation accounted for 47.2% of overnight stays by Bulgarian tourists and 75.5% of overnight stays by international visitors during the reporting period.
The total number of tourists staying in accommodation facilities in Bulgaria in June rose 49% year-on-year to 838,100, NSI said. Foreign tourists who arrived in June were 375,600 and stayed an average of 4.5 nights.
