Bulgaria: unmarked police car hit child on zebra crossing who later died in hospital – Novinite.com

Today at around 11:40 a.m., an employee of the Interior Ministry on the main street of the village of Bratanitsa in Pazardzhik drove an 8-year-old girl in a company car at an intersection, reported the BNR.

According to witnesses, the child suddenly jumped out onto the street.

Local police teams and an ambulance were dispatched to the scene.

The child was transported to the multi-profile hospital for active treatment in Pazardzhik in a very serious condition and sadly died, said Pazardzhik police spokesman Miroslav Stoyanov.

The driver is believed to be an officer from an organized crime unit. Procedural and investigative measures are carried out on site.

The public prosecutor has been informed of the incident.

“At this point in time, I could not say in which unit the officer works, I can only say that it is an employee of the Ministry of the Interior with an official, unmarked car.”

“At this point I do not know that there is alcohol consumption, but that still needs to be clarified, as a blood sample is also taken from the employee for laboratory analysis,” a spokesman for the Pazardzhik police told the BNR.

The Pazardzhik Prosecutor’s Office is expected to release official information on the case./BNR
