SOFIA, Bulgaria, June 22nd (SeeNews) – Belgian electronic components manufacturer Melexis will open its new building in Sofia, Bulgaria, in September after an investment of 75 million euros (89.2 million US dollars).
Melexis plans to hire 160 new employees by the end of 2022 to expand operations in Bulgaria, the company announced on Monday.
The new building will expand the existing 7,500 m² facility in Sofia, where Melexis Bulgaria operates, by 15,000 m². The new building will house production, R&D and storage units.
The opening of the new plant is expected to attract both Bulgarian and international microelectronics specialists, the company said.
The specialists will work on various projects such as the development and production of integrated circuits and other solutions for several international markets, including the automotive sector.

Melexis opened its Bulgarian office in 1998 and moved to a larger facility at the end of 2006. The company is a global provider of microelectronic semiconductor solutions and employs over 1,500 people at 19 locations worldwide.
